7x7 on a psychedelic and punk filled day in and around the Haight.
(597 Lincoln Way)
At the intersection of Lincoln Way and 7th Avenue we shot Haley and Ariel up against a gritty pink garage door. The hard/soft location is footsteps away from Hippy Hill in Golden Gate Park. Mosey on down and take in the sights and smells of the Haight Ashbury destination for those in search of a great picnic spot and to see where all those Haight kids go to lay out and chill.
Bed & Breakfast
Check in or just check it out. This Haight Ashbury locale has been the pit stop for musicians, artists, hippies and the ubiquitous backpacker. Make sure to scope out their themed rooms. The psychedelic Peacock suite was our muse in styling Haley for our fashion story...the room comes with a fireplace and a bath tub in the bedroom too!
Thrift / Vintage Store
Get new threads and explore the mix of vintage and new. Wasteland has an amazing way of bringing you something you have always been after or something you didn't know you needed! Lauren Goodman and I came here and found several pieces we HAD TO HAVE in the Color of Punk Is Pink shoot! Studded leather shorts and grommet leather jacket heaven.
Music mecca for locals and visitors a like, Amoeba has an impressive vinyl offering as well as CD's and Blu Rays in every genre. If you're in at the right time there are even live concerts on stage. Pick up the Dead Kennedy's "Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables" to get you amped.
This iconic row of brightly painted homes that date back to 1906 are the perfect photo op. Here we shot Haley in the turquoise fall Prada coat.
Make the trip to this east bay shop where you will find locally designed spiked bracelets and chokers to go with those black creeper shoes.
On the hunt for a red rubber catsuit (who isnt?) we found ourselves surrounded by neoprene, latex and leather.Unfortunately, there is no rubber off-the-rack for ladies, but we did find an amazing harness for the shoot. Wear it over easy summer dresses.
The oldest bar on the Haight, Zam Zam, opened right before Pearl Harbor--and the joke is, "and they've been getting bombed ever since." The murals are heaven. The bar sublime. Just behave yourself, as the bartender takes no nonsense--which keeps this an oasis amidst the chaos. Check out rocks star, Ariel Pink lounge therein.
